SCAD X HARBOR X ETC - Week 6
Hello, this is my sixth week of the Scad x Harbor x ETC blog!
These are the mentors' feedback from Tuesday's presentation.
Kyle:
-
Particles still feel slightly low res
-
Editorial fix for shot 3, rn it starts too much in the dark
-
Shot 4 lighting feels flat
-
Shot 5 background is blending too much with the product
Beck:
-
Like silhouette frot
-
I like that there are more particle layers
-
Shot 1, less perfection on the trails
-
Shot 3, glowing should start early, more pscale variation in the particles, some particles slower than others
-
Shot 4, specular might be too much
-
Height map feels low detail, lacks depth, include more variation in specular and texture
Emma:
-
Reference real paintings for Shot 4 texture and detail
-
Need better lighting for shot 4, right now it looks like a flashlight shining on it
Vi:
-
Shot 3 is too dark at beginning
-
First shot feels a bit too long
-
Advertisements tend to be punchy, grab attention right away
-
Shot 2 can also be faster
-
Shot 4 reveal ends too soon
-
More dynamic lighting on shot 5
Hailey:
-
Color spill in shot 2 looks good
-
Maybe boost color spill on shot 1
-
Shot 5 background should be darker
Billy:

To-Do List:
-
Refine the particles’ path and flow shape (Create noise)
-
Add more volume and tin the particles
-
Create more color variants for particles
This is our Previs for week 6.
I also tried to add extra [effect?] around each particle flow, but it didn't look that good and felt a little flickery, so we decided to change it to apply around the particle flows as a whole, not just around each individual flow.
I continued to refine the particles flows for shot 1 and 2. And also try to add another layer of bigger particles around with the color flows, but now looks messy, need to better integrate with the color flows.
Itim and I also added fake lighting to enhance the colors on the printer, but we still need to add more in Shot 2 to make it look consistent.

According to the suggestions the mentor gave us, we fastened the particles' speed going into the holes. Here are some speed tests about this.
